UK Medical Cannabis Registry reaches exciting new milestone!

Published: 29/07/2024

The UK Medical Cannabis Registry, the largest of its kind in Europe, has just reached a significant milestone with 25 peer-reviewed publications using Registry data. Paper number 25 – our latest research on inflammatory arthritis – was just published in International Clinical Psychopharmacology.

This groundbreaking research from the UK Medical Cannabis Registry is crucial in educating healthcare professionals about medical cannabis, with the goal of making it more widely accepted and accessible for patients who struggle with traditional therapies.

While we await randomised clinical trials, the data we collect is invaluable in driving change, shaping health policy, and improving care through the clinic.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all 20,000+ patient contributors. By completing your questionnaires and tracking your health over time you are advancing the understanding and acceptance of medical cannabis and helping UK patients, who are struggling physically and mentally, find a new path to explore. We thank you!

Our 25 research studies cover a diverse range of conditions, including:

  • Mental health conditions
  • Pain conditions
  • Gut conditions
  • Nervous system conditions
  • Cancer

Dr Simon Erridge, Research Director at Curaleaf Clinic also expressed his thanks to patients, whilst looking towards the future for research using the Registry: “This would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of our patients to the UK Medical Cannabis Registry. Their data has fuelled research that is shaping the future of medical cannabis therapy in the UK.

As we celebrate 25 publications, we recognise that this is just the beginning. With continued support from patients, the UK Medical Cannabis Registry will continue to drive research, inform policy, and ultimately, improve patient access to medical cannabis for the most suitable patients.”
